Our educational psychologist, Zoe Owen, is a licenced Elklan tutor, able to deliver any of Elklan’s core courses.

Giving staff the knowledge and skills to support speech, language and communication skills of children in your setting

Elklan are national leaders in training education practitioners, other professionals and parents, to help children and young people develop the skills they need to succeed in life. Elklan courses develop practitioners knowledge of communication and interaction skills, awareness of different areas of need and are full of practical approaches and strategies that meet the needs of children and young people with communication and interaction needs. The content of the courses allow your staff to deliver effective interventions and appropriately differentiate in the classroom to work towards Education, Health and Care plan (EHCp) outcomes and individual support plan targets.

Speech and Language Support for 3-5s

A course for those of you working with children aged 3-5 years. It provides information & strategies to develop the communication skills of all young children but especially those with speech, language & communication needs. Available through blended e-learning and face to face delivery.

Communication Support for Verbal Pupils with ASD

A specialist training programme for those of you working with autistic pupils and/or pupils with social communication needs.

It is suitable for those of you who work in mainstream, special schools and specialist units and will empower you to develop the communication skills of pupils who need support to develop their language in a social context.

Communication Support for Vulnerable Young People (risk of school exclusion)

An accredited course for those working with vulnerable young people, such as those with SEMH needs or at risk of school exclusion, PRU students, young offenders and those being educated in youth justice systems. Research identifies a solid link between unwanted behaviour and significant communication needs, but the focus for these children is often on their behaviour rather than supporting the development of communication skills they need to achieve in education and make a positive contribution to their communities.
