edPsychology Solutions Ltd has been delivering creative and collaborative educational psychology services since 2018, but the journey started long before. A life-long love of animals and passion for their welfare led to an early career as a veterinary nurse for our Managing Director, Zoe. After many years as a Veterinary Nurse, Zoe moved to post-16 education, where she taught Animal Care. Becoming aware of the pastoral support many young people needed to succeed in education sparked a new career objective, with a central focus on supporting children and young people.
After travelling in Southeast Asia and working as a Veterinary Nurse in Australia, Zoe returned home to retrain and gain experience. Roles in Youth Justice, Children’s Residential Services, Alternative Education provision, Education Welfare and pastoral and family support in mainstream education followed. During this time Zoe completed her undergraduate psychology degree, moved to Preston and secured an Assistant Educational Psychologist role with Lancashire County Council. Zoe completed her educational psychology training at the University of Birmingham and has been delivering educational psychology services in different capacities in the Lancashire area since 2012.
Zoe knows she has the best job in the world, she continues to be motivated by the dedicated school staff she works with and the challenge of applying creative psychology solutions to ever-changing situations. They say never work with children and animals, but for Zoe, it was the animals, and now it is the children who bring joy to her work and inspire her every day.
We aim to improve outcomes for children and young people across Lancashire through the application of quality psychology, evidence-based practice and the provision of needs-led services. We believe that we can achieve this best through the development of strong and collaborative relationships with our schools and settings.
Zoe received her Doctorate of Child and Educational Psychology from the University of Birmingham and has worked across the Lancashire area delivering Educational Psychology services from 2010 both with the local authority and the private sector.
Zoe has over 20 years’ experience of working children, young people, families, schools and residential settings. Zoe has particular interests in children’s social, emotional, and communication development and preventing school exclusion; she is passionate about developing capacity within schools’ systems to promote optimal outcomes for children, families and the professionals who support them.
